Meet the Manager and Owner: Naomi Wadsworth and Jan Burch

Going to "work" each day is a delight when you are managing a NumberWorks’nWords Centre. We should know because that's what we do.
Jan originally taught mathematics in secondary schools, then re-trained both as a primary school teacher and a SPELD tutor. Before she opened Dunedin NumberWorks’nWords she was lecturing in education at Massey University. Over the years Jan has been both an “at home” and a “working Mum” to four children.
Naomi is also a mother, but after you see one of her paintings, you’ll call her an artist. Naomi trained and began her teaching career in Dunedin. To her twenty-plus years of teaching in Otago primary schools she has added stints teaching English overseas, held the role of Special Educational Needs Co-Ordinator and worked with children with dyslexia. Most recently she taught at Waitati Primary School.
We both agree that when it comes to jobs we’ve had, nothing comes close to the fun of working with our wonderful tutors and the young learners at the Dunedin NumberWorks'nWords.
Most of all, we love chatting with parents about their awesome children, so please come in and tell us about yours.
Jan Burch (B.Sc., M.Ed.Stud(Mathematics), Dip.Tchg., MNZAMT)
Naomi Wadsworth (Adv. Dip. Tchg, ACET)
